Hi, I’m doing a story on a business owner who received a Registration-branded company review notice seeking a $449 payment. He almost paid it before realising it was optional.
Could you please respond to the following questions:
- What service does a customer receive after paying the $449 company review fee?
- Does the $449 fee include ASIC’s annual review fee, or is that charged separately?
- How do you respond to concerns that recipients may mistake the notice for an invoice requiring payment?
- What is your response to ASIC’s decision to cancel the registered agent status of Registration Pty Ltd and Biz Australia Pty Ltd on 5 June 2026?
Cheers,
Burney

Here is our reply:
Hi Burney,
As you have just admitted, the business owner who contacted you did NOT make a payment to engage our services and clearly understood we are a “private third-party service provider” and “independent of ASIC”, as has always been clearly and transparently stated on our marketing correspondence.
We have many, many happy clients for nearly 6 years who utilise our reminder service every year to have us perform their Business Name Renewal, Company Review and Trade Mark Renewal services.
We’re happy to answer your questions and have also posted them on our own blog today.
- What service does a customer receive after paying the $449 company review fee?
Our Company Review services have always been clearly outlined on our website and require every new customer to read and agree to our services at this link before making their payment – https://admin.reg.com.au/knowledgebase/55/Annual-Company-Review-Service-Protocol.html - Does the $449 fee include ASIC’s annual review fee, or is that charged separately?
Our Company Review services and service fee details have always been clearly outlined on our website and require every new customer to read and agree to our services at this link before making their payment – https://admin.reg.com.au/knowledgebase/55/Annual-Company-Review-Service-Protocol.html - How do you respond to concerns that recipients may mistake the notice for an invoice requiring payment?
This is not possible. Our marketing correspondence has always clearly stated, we are a “private third-party service provider” and “independent of ASIC” and “This is not a bill”. You have also proven this above when you stated the “business owner” who contacted you above did NOT engage or pay us and understood our services were “optional”. It’s also not possible to engage or pay our services unless our website terms and conditions have been read and agreed to, which also clearly and transparently explains our services, and statutory payments versus service fees, in great detail, before any payment can be made. - What is your response to ASIC’s decision to cancel the registered agent status of Registration Pty Ltd and Biz Australia Pty Ltd on 5 June 2026?
We are a “private third-party service provider” and “independent of ASIC”. We do not need to be an “ASIC Registered Agent” to provide software renewal and review services to our clients and continue to transparently provide our reminder and software services as a “private third-party service provider”.
Finally, we recommend to the “business owner” who contacted you above, that they can OPT OUT of receiving our future marketing correspondence by visiting www.reg.com.au/do-not-contact
Good luck with your article, Burney, and thank you for writing about our services.
