Trade Mark Lawyer explains how bad the ASIC website is to register new business names.

The ASIC website looks and dates back to over two decades, and many people have great difficulty using it, paying on it, if it works for them at all.

Understanding many small businesses frustration with the ASIC clunky website, six years ago, back in 2020, our CEO launched Registration Pty Ltd (reg.com.au) to make it easier, and more reliable, to register and renew Australian business names.

One such person who recently commented on how bad the ASIC website and their ASIC.gov.au registration system is, is a Trade Mark Lawyer from Melbourne firm MillsIP.com.au(.)

In this podcast from Domain Name Wire in September 2026, Mr Karabardak states (33 minutes in), “I registered that domain name, and tried to register the matching business name, but our equivalent of the SEC, ASIC, is a complete disaster, in terms of their website, you can’t complete transactions, the payment gateway times out, the website crashes… If you want an example of a terrible website that doesn’t work, you can just refer people to ASIC.gov.au(.) I did have a chuckle to myself when I tried to register a business name, and I couldn’t, just because the website was so broken.“

With the success of Registration Pty Ltd over many years, with many happy customers engaging and using the automatic annual renewals, we then went on to disrupt Accountants (who were forgetting to remind their clients about annual Company Reviews) by offering a more reliable, and easier way to perform your annual ASIC Company Review. This included building and providing automating annual Review Fee payments to ASIC and also providing a simple and easy-to-understand Solvency Resolution template that Company Directors can print, pass and archive in their Registration Dashboard.

As at September 2026, Registration Pty Ltd continues to be a private third-party Business Name Renewal and Company Review service provider. We have massive plans for the future including building and adding more easier and reliable services to ensure your business or company can spend more time concentrating on what’s really important, with less painful admin.
